It was a last-minute decision to head to Lincoln and run my first auto-x event in the Camaro. Bit of a learning curve you could say. Kind of pissed off I kept running the 4th corner like I was on a circuit. And messing up the eye brows on my fastest run. But I haven’t done an event in over a year, so there was some rust to knock off.
Also lost to a couple in the ST clan I used to dominate in the ST.
So it’s official: the Focus ST is faster than a Camaro with 550rwhp/545rwtq.
That being said, this car handles amazingly and I can’t wait for the track day on Friday.

Driving FWD and RWD in autocross is totally different, so the learning curve is expected.
That said, it seems like the Camaros are doing pretty well in autocross around where I am (Detroit Region). On sticky tires, I’d even go so far as to say they’re kind of dominating. But maybe that’s because the 2016 Camaro SS is still in F-Street...

There was a guy there (regular who ran a 15 Mustang before) in a new 16 Camaro with Forgelines and I want to say RE71's. Totally destroyed my time. I think he's won F-Street in every event this year. He said, as a former Mustang owner, that there is a huge difference between the two cars.

That looks like a pretty fast course, but the design is kinda disjointed. How fast were you going in the Carm E rrrrroo on those “straights”?

I think the guy who brings his brand new Z06 to autocross here would agree with you. I shouldn’t be anywhere near as close to his times as I am.

Yeah, the Camaros I’ve seen are running RE71Rs. They’re pretty amazing cars considering the performance v. price ratio. I’m really tempted to buy a 1SS right now...

Go drive one! 2017's as rolling out so I bet you can get a 2016 fairly reasonable. That and 0% APR offers on them right now.

Oh I’ve driven the 2016s quite a bit and love them. I actually owned a 2015 Camaro for a while, but ended up trading it in for something better for the winter. The 2016s are great cars, but until I move somewhere with less snow, probably not in the cards for me.

I hear you there. Thankfully I got a truck to drive during the winter. Would have looked at a Focus RS if I only had one vehicle. Got to see my friends in action the other day. Sick cars.
